The Montessori School of Ojai has a low turnover of our teachers. The average time employed at MSO by our current head teaching staff is over 16 years. We normally hire head teachers from our current assistant teaching staff.
Assistant teachers in our prekindergarten programs (infants, toddlers, and 3-6) must have a minimum of 6 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units and be actively pursuing additional units for a total of 12. Three Infant ECE units are beneficial to hiring.
All prospective assistant teachers will need to:
Attend Montessori teacher training classes provided at the school.
Have energy for walks around our large campus.
Be flexible! Job requirements may change at any time. You must be able to adapt easily.
Required job qualifications for all positions:
Ability to respect children as equals.
Criminal background check (Live Scan) necessary before employment begins.
A commitment of cooperation and involvement with other staff, students and families.
Willingness to attend special school happenings including occasional evening and weekend events.
Certification in CPR and First Aid.
Ability to interact with young children in a calm, loving manner at all times.
